No road safety laws prevent you from driving without a shirt on but, of course women who are topless in full view of others will get pulled over for obscene exposure. That’s not to say that men shouldn’t be covering up too but all drivers should be cautious and responsible. All in all, driving shirtless is much more risky business for women. Laws on obscene exposure differ across the different states and territories of Australia but, obscene exposure is illegal in all jurisdictions. This law can change depending on if the situation is based on decent or indecent in society according to the time of conviction.
For example, if you can prove that you were exposing your person for a reason other than to intent to expose yourself indecently due to necessity or duress, then the law will not speak to punish you. It is highly recommended of course to put on a shirt before getting on the road. A lot of the times driving without a shirt could just be a sign of something more troubling, like being under the influence. As long as you are a responsible driver and obviously not under any influence then you shouldn’t have any thing to worry about. Of course it is best to drive with a shirt on because then it would be zero risks while driving.
